Color study-green box. This was the third exercise in Stern's How to See Color and Paint It. Again, my colors aren't perfect, but I was able to see the seven color statements the author wanted the reader to observe. I must work on obtaining a better set up area.

Value Scale ANXIETY
I have completed my first assignment at the ARA: a value scale on Stonehenge pale grey using 2b and 2h pencils. It took me at least 15 hours, and two attempts. It still has some problems, but at this point I do not have to make additional adjustments. The process drove me insane. As a result of filling in small dents in the paper with a ridiculously thin pencil, every time I see a square that isn't smooth in value, I want to go at it with my pencil. e.g., the tumbled marble tiles in my shower.
It is OK, but I probably will need to do another after I finish the construct of my first Bargue.
In the meantime, I continue making constructs in on Sunday with Emmy, and a portrait on Saturday with Brian. I also worked with a reed pen last week at QAA (one example below), and made a quick 1/2 hour charcoal sketch also at QAA.

This week at QAA, I experimented with a Sumi-e brush, acrylic ink, and a water-soluble oil crayon. I should have worked on watercolor paper.
